Hybrid Seminar: Developing real-world experiments to foster sustainability transformations in cities

This course explores how we can use the SDGs as a tool for analyzing developments in our own city: Where does the relevance of certain SDGs become particularly tangible? Where can the SDGs be used to observe developments towards sustainability, where can grievances be revealed? Where and in what way can each and every individual take action to implement the SDGs? These insights will be the basis for designing starting points for concrete real-world experiments to explore and test out solution pathways for specific challenges in the context of the SDGs.

Sustainable Entrepreneurship: Focusing on Sustainable Business Solutions

At the beginning of April 2024, students from Eucor and EPICUR universities traveled to Vienna for the five-day EPICUR Spring School “Sustainable Entrepreneurship” at the University of Natural Resources and Life Sciences (BOKU). Harry Bonetti, who studies Spanish and Sports Science at the University of Basel, summarizes his impressions as a participant of the Spring School: “The Spring School week was a unique experience where students from all over the world came together to develop solutions to problems for three existing sustainable companies. It was also, to a certain extent, a crash course in the world of entrepreneurship, which led us to develop an idea and a common thread for our own sustainable start-ups that can now be pursued further.”

Cross-Border Education Grant

Cross-Border Education Grant 2024

The Cross-Border Education Grant of the University of Basel is intended to support cooperation projects in teaching within the trinational university network Eucor – The European Campus, which, in addition to the University of Basel, includes the universities of Freiburg, Strasbourg, Haute-Alsace and the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology. Funding is available for innovative bi- and tri-national courses in the fall semester 2024 and spring semester 2025.

Sustainable Eucor Cities?

In February, around 20 students from different disciplines at the Eucor universities of Strasbourg, Freiburg and Basel worked together intensively on the state of sustainable development in their cities in a hybrid block course at the University of Basel in which they organised city walks by students for students. The results of the course are sustainable urban explorations in the three cities or so-called SDG Walks.
